I've been thinking of an idea for a group long-division lesson. I'm thinking of pulling four kids and giving each a white board. The first child does the dividing, the second does the multiplying, the third does the subtracting, and the fourth does the bringing down. So we start with one problem. The first child divides the first number and passes the white board to the next child. Then we give the first child another whiteboard with another problem. We keep going until we have four problems going and until they're all solved. Yeah?
In language lessons this week I have the following plan:
- Tuesday: Biography writing
- Wednesday: Colons and Hyphens
- Thursday: Grammar lessons
- Friday: Sentence Analysis
Cultural studies this week is Botany: The Fruit.
Tomorrow Kati's doing a KE, and I'm doing fruit stamping (assuming there's time).
We're also doing a cool artsy project Kati came up with where the students make 3D fruit mobile thingies - that's Wednesday.
Thursday Ric is coming to teach the kids about Ancient Egypt. They'll love him.
Friday is Geography day and more about meerkats.
Today was a good day for a break. It was WARM! Almost all the snow on my front lawn and along the curb is GONE. The sun came out. I walked around in just a sweater. It was just what I needed to face another week of January. So tomorrow we're getting back to it.
Bring it on.
